Most waterbeds use some form of heating system. These heating devices are designed specifically for the use of heating a waterbed.
These waterbed heating systems have covers that have been designed so they are safe to use. These covers should prevent any form of fire that might otherwise start. The heating unit is always placed under the vinyl mattress and has adjustable settings. This will even out the temperature of the water. Most of the time, it is advised to keep it at body temperature.
Many new waterbed mattress owners ask what temperature they should keep the heating system on. This is definitely something that you will have to decide, but the norm is eight-five to eighty-nine degrees. Some people think that is too hot, and some think it is too cold. It is best to start your waterbed on eight-five degrees and let it adjust for one or two days, this will give it time to fully heat the water. You should be sure that the mattress is covered with a recommended mattress pad, and then add the rest of your bedding. After a few days you will be able to adjust the heating settings to what you feel is the most comfortable and even therapeutic.
Please do be aware that the heating unit does not run all the time. It is regulated by a thermostat (just like your home heating unit) to your desired settings.
